Should I pay the guy I hit in an accident now in full or pay in installments?

I got into a car accident (my fault) and the guy was cool enough to let me pay 2500 in installments. We had agreed that i would pay him 300 every paycheck, but i gave him 1250 immediately. I have the other 1250 to pay him, with little impact on my finances. Should I drop the 1250 now or pay in the 300 dollar installments?
