Ended up buying an Etron last month. Found a dealership locally that had just gotten it in and bought it a few few days after arrival. Only issue it had was the passenger door handle was broken and needed to be replaced. Little did I know this was gonna be the least of my problems.

Immediately after the door handle is replaced. I got an electrical warning, pop-up in the dash. After restarting the car, the error went away, and I thought nothing of it. Later that day, I went to throw something on the passenger seat, and after opening the passenger door and immediately starting the car. I received another electrical warning that this time, was preventing the car from starting.

Ended up calling the Audi dealership nearby and was told to see if the code cleared after 30 minutes in the car was able to be driven. Luckily, it did reset, and the car was back to normal. However, to test my theory I opened & closed the passenger door again. Which immediately bricked the car yet again. After this, the dealer I bought it from took it directly to the Audi dealership for them to repair at their cost. While at the dealership, said they had found the issue & it had something to do with programming error. And that they were testing the cars on multiple test drives to verify that the car wouldn’t break itself indifferent scenarios, including opening and closing the passenger door.

Fast forward to last Friday where I received a call stating the vehicle is ready for pick up on Monday and that I would receive a phone call specify what time I could pick it up. Monday came, and I received your call. I ended up calling the dealership as I was leaving work in the evening to see if it was ready.

I was told that the car was no longer ready for pick up and need to be sent back to the shop. Apparently, after the shop techs had dropped off the car at the dealership. The dealership had driven it to a car wash. While the car wash, It decided to brick itself again. The morning after I received another phone call from the dealership saying that they had completed some more diagnostics and found a new code that stated that one of the battery modules was bad and needed to be replaced. Luckily, they gave me ETA of only a week before picking it up, which should be sometime in the beginning of next week.

Not sure if I just got unlucky or if it was something else I could see the car history via the Audi service history reports and found nothing unusual. In the car originally came from Palm Springs and other than some sand blast damage. There isn’t anything wrong with the car.

On the bright side at least, this is something that is covered under the battery warranty. It won’t cost me a cent.
