The Official Forum thread re: the Heidel Ball Level/EXP change, just broke 1.5k upvotes - here's the breakdown
Heidel Ball Summary:
- Combat Level is being capped for the first time at Level 70 on 8/12 - approximately two dozen players above this are being reverted down to Level 70.000. New EXP acquisition methods were provided, but include Node War, bosses, War of the Roses etc.
- In the near future (September, and then likely further+ in the future), we will get a level cap of 75, with 18 monster ap and 18 monster dr being listed as levels over the 5 levels, equal distribution (3) for each by level 70-75
What the thread claims:
-
Level caps are generally antithetical to progression, especially easy ones. This is the first "regression" of nearly any progression system in BDO, even pushing down EXP of some players in order to make the change happen.
-
It agrees that change was necessary, but proposes either making one level of the cap more challenging (significantly?), or consider uncapped levels with more extreme scaling
-
There is a general "threat" that more players should be concerned about, e.g. investing into life levels, investing into other forms of the game etc., "what if pvp got reduced to 6 skills to be more casual friendly" or "What if we reverted all lifeskills to g1 and set a new race to g10" etc.
-
Surely a more "casual friendly" solution exists without compromising a game state players have been investing into for years, the compensation of a title is not necessarily appropriate
Are these valid claims? Would PA ever compromise on this?
