Embarrassing BM question. Extreme pain after some solid.

Question

I don’t really know where I can ask or who can relate to me on this question other than here, but hope it’s not too awkward.

I recently got diagnosed with severe left sided UC, still waiting on my biologicals cleared between insurance and infusion facilities. In the mean time I am taking 40mg prednisone daily at the moment.

Some of the days I may have soft solid stool (in shape, more solid but not hard) passing by in the evening, may take a few bathroom runs to fully clear up, until some watery stool and mucus runs in the end. But after that usually I would have unbearable internal rectum pain, almost like burning sensation inside on some sides of the rectum. And the whole process may take 3-5 hours starting from the first soft solid stool run.

I don’t know if this is something anyone else has experienced. Most time I usually just have some watery stool and mucus, definitely didn’t feel good but the pain is manageable. But once a day if solid stool hits, there were a few hours absolute misery after that, I mean crazy pain that I couldn’t even stop moaning.

I asked AI saying it might be because the solid stool “scratch” the surface of the rectum, and make it more inflamed. So just a slow healing process since eventually stool should be solid.

Anyone else had experience like this? Is this something I just need to suffer and power through? Any tips on the pain management? Would take Tylenol or even edibles an option if I am seeing solid stool passing?

Really appreciated!
