I've made a terrible mistake on Slay the Spire 2- and you might have, too

DISCUSSION (STS2)

I loved STS1. I got into it about 6 months before the sequel came out, and put in hundreds of hours (90% of those being as Silent).

The reason STS1 is so loved, as im sure you all know, is the absurd level of depth. The strategy is so complicated, and upon learning that the best players can win almost every time shoeed me just how deep it goes.

So I played the game as that- a strategy game. It wasnt a Banjo Kazooie type game, where the atmosphere sold me. Yknow, put on a podcast or some music and focus on the game. The soundtrack got a little repetitive after a while too.

So, going into 2, I brought over this mindset. I have maybe had the sound on, like, 20 minutes total- the game is always muted.

Now, I realize what an insane decision that was. Because the upgrade in sound design is absolutely INSANE. In the underdocks, everything sounds gargly, bc ofc the creatures breathe water or live near it. The noises from each enemy breathes so much life into the world. The sound made me appreciate the landscapes even moreso, as they compliment eachother so perfectly.

So if you are like me, play a few runs with the sound. The level of effort into the tiny details deserves SO much more praise than it's received. Even if they do receive a lotta praise, it is absolutely not enough.
