laser core alpha mission super glitchy

i just played the laser core mission for the first time and i had a few weird glitches. like whenever i died my character would go bald (lol), i kept getting the pop up on the side that was like 'go into your activity tracker to pick a quest' even though i was on this quest, the blue icon showing where to go stopped popping up, and when i was trying to damage the laser it wouldn't work the first few shots.

did anyone else have anything like this or is my game just buggy?
