GI Lab pros & cons?

I'm in the process of applying for GI Lab, transitioning from ICU for a decade. There was prescreening questions: 8 hour days, they require on call, weeknights, weekends, holidays.. is this normal now? I am waiting to see what exactly this means in terms of how much they require. A little apprehensive coming from 12 hour shifts but I do need/want to leave bedside at this point.

Please give me insight on this kind of position, good bad and ugly.
