Why are Nintendo fans so accepting of the lack of 3D Mario and games in general?

Actual Good criticism

I just don't understand why Nintendo fans are so ready to deflect any criticism as to how Nintendo has slowed down the pace significantly their pace when it comes to releasing 3D Mario games.

Between all 3D Mario games released, there is an average gap of 3-4 years between every mainline 3D Mario game. Currently, we are coming up on nearly 10 years since the last 3D Mario game. I would be willing to let it slide more if they'd just been pumping us with other Mario content since, but they just haven't. They have released one 2D game since Oddesey (mind you there was 11 years between Wonder and NSMB U) and one Mario Kart (which also took 11 years after the release of MK8).

Compared to between the Wii-WiiU era, this is nothing. Between 2007-2012, they released three 3D games, three 2D games, and two Mario Karts. In those 5 years, they were effectively able to triple the amount of content released in the past 10.

I'm not trying to be ungrateful or anything as I do believe the few Mario releases on the Switch and Switch 2 have been great, but it's getting to a point where the wait is getting ridiculous. Like Nintendo is reaching Rockstar Games levels of development times, and even though the games are great I think we have to seriously consider whether they are worth over a decade between games.
