I just went through the entire current Chevrolet Performance crate engine catalog and re-checked every horsepower and torque figure against their live product pages. A few things worth passing along:

**\*\*The LT5 is no longer listed.\*\*** The 755 hp supercharged 6.2 from the ZR1 is not in the lineup anymore. Anything you find for sale is old inventory or aftermarket. A lot of the "top 10 crate engines" articles still have it at number one.

**\*\*The LS376 naming is genuinely misleading.\*\*** The LS376/515 makes 533 hp. The LS376/525 makes 525 hp. The 515 makes more peak power than the 525. The 525 makes more torque and lives higher in the RPM range, which is presumably the logic, but it catches people constantly.

**\*\*The ZZ6 EFI is up to 420 hp\*\***, which is now 15 hp more than the carbureted ZZ6 at 405. It used to be a wash between them.

\*\*eCrate changed a lot.\*\* It is installer-only now, requires a GM 4-speed automatic with an external mode switch, and the battery alone is 947 lbs. Not the over-the-counter kit people think it is.

Also, for anyone weighing this: the engine is typically only 40 to 60 percent of what it costs to actually get a swapped vehicle driving. Mounts, cooling, fuel delivery, ECU and harness, exhaust, driveshaft, and accessory drive all land after the headline number.

I wrote the whole thing up family by family here: [https://www.buildpriceoption.com/chevy-crate-engines/](https://www.buildpriceoption.com/chevy-crate-engines/)

Happy to answer questions on any specific family in the comments.

The LT5 is gone from the Chevrolet Performance lineup, and most crate engine guides have not noticed
