Why Do Gamers Let Playstation Year Customers Terribly
One thing I've never understood is why PlayStation customers seem to accept so many anti consumer decisions from Sony without much pushback.
Over the years we've seen things like:
- Price increases for games and PS Plus.
- Paid online multiplayer.
- Weak customer support compared to many other major tech companies.
- Abandonment of physical media and a push toward an all digital future controlled by walled Sony ecosystem.
- Expensive accessories and controllers with common stick drift issues.
- Limited backwards compatibility.
- Games rotating out of PS Plus despite subscriptions becoming more expensive.
- Regional restrictions and account policies that frustrate customers.
- Consistently pushing the industry toward a more closed ecosystem where consumers own less and have fewer choices.
- Release few first-party games compared to expectations.
Yet PlayStation remains incredibly successful, and most controversies seem to disappear after a few weeks. Purple seem to even jump to the defense of the billion dollar company.
Why is that?
I'm genuinely interested in hearing where people think Sony has done right, where they've gone too far, and what it would actually take for a meaningful number of customers to push back.
