Do better schools/districts usually hire teachers earlier?
Something I want to know, especially as the situation for looking to get a first teaching position, is if the higher-quality districts/schools usually hire teachers earlier during the school year compared to July/August? At least most of the options remaining in my area are usually title 1 schools in heavily rural/urban areas, while the suburban schools already are “full”. I also want to know if I start at a lower-level school my first year, what I can do to be a better candidate for future opportunities at better schools?
I’d be grateful for the opportunity to still work at the rural/urban schools, but I don’t think I’d live there long-term, but they seem more open to hiring/interviewing knowing that I’d need a provisional license, compared to the richer districts.
