TAP air- pup in the hold

Anyone recently flown TAP air with a dog in the hold?

We fly soon and our pup’s weight fluctuates every day and some days she’s under 50lbs, some days she’s over— her crate is 20 pounds so we are teetering right at the edge. Trying to decide if we just scrap it and go Lufthansa ORD-FRA-LIS instead and have her endure the layover or risk it in hopes of getting on our direct TAP flight.
