Is there a specific name and or term for this?

I've been giving this some thought. I somehow always find myself arguing with someone, or I'll witness someone arguing, and they will default to a self-degrading victim stance or an inferiority complex when they are wrong.

[Please take this as an example; I'm just trying to educate myself]

Example:

"You're only saying that because I'm [insert race or gender]."
