I have only had this infestation for a few days, and it just keeps getting worse. They are only in my bathroom, especially around my bathtub/shower. They aren't on my counter or near my toilet. They arent necessarily by the faucet, but they are attracted to one specific spot where the water from my shower head hits, and its kinda in the corner? That one particularly large ant, I believe it was the queen. One time they were kinda huddled up against the wall, but that was when that "queen" was out. (Idk if it was the queen because the smaller ants weren't necessarily next to the large ant. Maybe the bigger ant just had a very good food source..?) I began to look into the ant type, and I believe they are Pharaoh ants, especially since they're near the main water source in my bathroom. They are always crawling along my baseboards and up the caulking to get to that one specific area. (I was ABOUT to measure the "queen" on camera but then I accidentally split it in half with my nail so that just didn't work out sorry lol... it was abt 3mm though)

I'm asking this because I believe that I have already made a mistake in treating them. Since I didn't know what ant they were, I used a raid fogger. There were a few dead ants on the ground, but not as many as I used to see.

The first day they appeared, there were about 5-10. The second day, it doubled in size and so on. I tried to figure out where they were coming from by using sugar water, but even when watching them for an hour+ (yes... I was desperate..), I got absolutely nothing out of it. After putting in a little research, I'm now wondering if they are Pharaoh ants and how I can get rid of them. I heard that the Terro liquid ant baits are NOT effective when treating Pharaoh ants because they cause more budding, so I was wondering if there was a product that was somewhat fast acting to treat them. I live in Arizona, and I have always had bug problems, but this is my first time dealing with ants specifically, so I figure that with this type of ant, I can't use traditional methods.

I can't tell if they're coming in from a specific opening outside since there isn't any piping around the outside of my bathroom. I don't notice any of them coming from my window above my shower, and we also got all of our windows redone just to fix an older infestation that I had (they don't even go near it..) This is probably a useless/stupid statement, but they have this weird pattern of walking back and forth across the bottom caulking of my baseboard.. They're particularly annoying because I'll be watching them for a good 20 minutes and notice that none of them are leaving/coming out... and as SOON as I leave for at least 30 minutes, I see that they double in size. Another thing to mention was that I caulked all of the holes in my baseboards to see if that was where they were coming from, but I guess not. I checked under my counter as well, and there was absolutely nothing. THIS IS SO CONFUSING!!!

I know that this infestation is somewhat small currently (based on what I have said), but with my past experiences with infestations, I tend to take them SUPER seriously. I've had carpet beetle infestations for 3 summers in a row, along with german cockroaches and scorpions. I want to get rid of the infestation fast because I know that the longer I sit back and do nothing, the worse that I will feel about it.

Sorry for the bad camera quality... They were so small that I couldn't get a decent photo without it somewhat blurring it.

Pharaoh Ant?
