Question about episode 3: why exactly did Doll need to kill V’s competitors?

I get that she wants to make sure there’s no competition so V can win by forfeit and fall into her trap but they’re still innocent worker drones.

By killing them, she becomes no better than the monster she hunts.

Why doesn’t she just talk to the competitors, tell them why they can’t show up to prom, and they listen to her because V is a disassembly drone who’s killed hundreds if not thousands of worker drones?

And yes, I know that her being infected by the solver makes her need oil to survive, but she could’ve talked to Uzi to help her find something for that. Not everything has to end in sacrifice.
