R50i NC connects to Bluetooth without opening the case why?

My Soundcore R50i NC keeps connecting to my Bluetooth devices automatically, even when the case lid is closed. Normally these earbuds should only pair when the lid is open, so this behavior doesn't make sense to me.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Is this a known bug, or could something be wrong with my unit? Any insight on why this is happening and how to fix it would be appreciated.
