Will my eventual sea base be at risk of destruction?

I am planning to build out at sea in a manner similar to the syndicates oil rigs, tall platform with base up on stilts. However, i do not know how pal raids work with sea bases, and if they do happen then i have another question; are they just going to wander over to all my supports where none of my base pals can hit them and knock the whole thing down?
