Light switch suddenly started turning off an electrical outlet

We have a light switch in our bedroom that turns off the electrical outlet with a lamp.

However, as of today it’s also turning off a completely separate outlet with a clock. It seems wild to me that suddenly an additional outlet is controlled by this switch. What could have caused this to happen, and what’s the fix?
