Numbness and pain

Sometimes something will go numb, like falling asleep (typically my legs), and when I move there will be flares of horrible pain that radiates from that spot up the rest of the limb. It’s so bad that it freezes me in place for a few minutes until it returns to normal.

Does anyone else experience this? I thought it was normal but my dad recently informed me that he does not get this.
