Sleep Going, Going, Gone! (Guide/AMA)

Guide

Add it as a Hethereau hobby already, Hotta

NTE is the only gatcha game in which the events are so fun I end up grinding it the earliest when I get time! Such a fun event that I've lost nights worth of sleep!

I intentionally get to zero pearls to claim the 5 times emergency funds everyday. Mostly earned from starter hall and people's 10% losses.

Some tips:

  1. If you run outta pearls, simply queue a game with any advisor and no gadget since the entry fee is zero. You can click skip and either afk it or watch the match unfold and learn from observations.

  2. Haniel: Haniel's 2nd turn onwards rarity reveal is for "unknown collectables", not "random collectables". "Unknown collectables" are those whose rarity and silhouette both are unknown. Its better to let Haniel do the rarity reveals first then if you're curious about the silhouette (like when you see a red item) you can use a device which reveals X silhouettes and hopefully it targets it. If you use the "reveals X silhouettes" device early on, let's say the first round; then the collectables detected by that are NEVER targeted by Haniel's rarity reveal. Same applies when public info thing in 1st and 3rd rounds reveal silhouettes. This demerit doesn't apply when the entire collectable (name, icon, rarity, silhouette) is revealed as there is no room for more info. Being patient with Haniel can give complete info of all collectables on the board via rarity reveal. Use the filter option in match. With Haniel, if you're lucky with the early reveals you could snag an early win if it lands on a red collectable of 3x2 (LxB) size which are like 250k+.

  3. Hotori: Yk how items have 2-3 attributes like silhouette, rarity and arguably name? Hotori adds a new which is type.

Left to right: Antique, Gem, Tech, Food, Daily goods, Anomaly

She reveals silhouettes of ALL items of a certain type EACH turn.

Eg. Turn 1: Gem.
Turn 2: Daily goods
Turn 3: Antique

and so on... The class revealed is unique and on clicking the item the filter for that class and silhouette is already applied, narrowing down potential items. Using a rarity reveal device, you can further more narrow it down to 2-3 items. Using three filters to get accurate info while having board wide visibility on distribution of items.

  1. Jiuyuan: My former favorite. Its bugs me a lot that the highest rarity silhouette reveal most of the times just sits there unless it randomly gets hit by rarity reveal gadget. Don't get me wrong, her starting ability is powerful often giving info that the highest rarity is gold so you can bait others to bidding higher and then enjoy the 10% loss reward. I find her gameplay to be mainly psychological warfare with opponents, raising and deceiving at the right time. You must always be watchful of your opponent's abilities/gadgets and it's truer for Jiuyuan. People often fall for the "Let's larp" trap increasing the bid continuously despite having little to no info and when Jiuyuan, who in layman terms knows the highest expensive item, add credibility to the trap.
Her ability's 2nd turn onwards effect is similar to Haniel's first turn 5 item reveal, and often if it lands on a red 3x2 collectable, it can be leveraged into a win.

Lets talk about the gadget I use:

Medium Quantity Device Set

I use this set in the first auction hall, I do not discard it until I use all the devices from it. Instead, I switch to advisor to better synergize with remaining gadgets. Synergies:

  1. Rarity reveal: Hotori
  2. Silhouette reveal: Haniel
  3. Reveal 2 random collectibles: Haniel as it allows both rarity reveal to target some other unknown collectable. Everyone else also benefits from whole collectable reveal.
  4. Purple rarity count: Daffodil. Early estimate on sum of Gold and Red (mythic) collectables.

Some other niche tips:

  1. Based on rarity reveal, silhouettes etc. you can estimate the size of items.
  2. If you got broke winning an auction and have emergency funds attempts left, do not sell the items but instead get the funds, queue a free entry game, spend all and repeat 4 times. Alternatively, you can buy the expensive gadget sets (100k, 200k) if you're busy and/or reset is close. For the fifth time, you can keep the funds and sell the items. Even if you lose some emergency shells, you end up giving 10% each to 3 others and also come out net positive. Win-win.
  3. Edgar: I use him for spending the emergency funds in Shell hall (free entry) 4 times everyday. If there is a lot of space between collectables which are sparsely populated, I go all in. (If not, I go all in anyways ;) )
  4. Opponent Chiz: pay attention to their bid change in turn 3. If they lowered it, then the 8 items they revealed are worth that much.
  5. Both you and opponent as Jiuyuan: If there is only one (say) red item, both of you would be bidding roughly the same. Since the info on the highest rarity item is same, they'd assume you have the same info. You can bait them in believing that a second red item exists by bidding higher. Be careful as you might end up getting the short end of the stick.
  6. Daffodil and Hathor: Larpers. In Shell hall in my experience despite them not using any gadgets they just guess based on other people's bids. Both of their boards are completely empty, like what you're bidding 300k for!? No offence to those who main them skillfully, just had to vent xD

That's all I have to share. I'd like to hear your strategies and opinions as well! I don;t recall the last time I wrote something like a guide... Let me know if you liked it and feel free to ask me anything and I'll reply if I'm not auctioning or sleeping! I'm not the best, but have come back from 0 pearls several times...
