Made 15 grand last year. Sharing what I learnt.

Discussion

The number isn't anything crazy, but I wanted to share what I've learned and some of the mistakes I made.

Start by copying someone else's idea. If no one is making banks in a market, then there's probably no real demand, and you're likely just imagining a niche that's never going to pay.

A good tip is to use a SaaS tool to look up how much your competitors are making. One metric that really matters is LTV for paying customers, since it tells you roughly how much a user is worth in that specific niche.

I also did a ton of direct outreach, straight to people's LinkedIn or email. This is a job hunting app, so I had to figure out who recently lost their job from Articuler directories, then DM them or send a direct email. It works like magic and converts really well.

Stop focusing on paid ads when you have no initial investment, that just burns money. Test your paywall first, learn your actual conversion and retention rates, and only then spend on ads. To this day I haven't run a single ad.

You have to run a ton of experiments to see which copy and which onboarding actually works. You've got to test like a maniac.

Dont focus only on the U.S. some of my best ones: swiss, UK, ireland, Japan

Have diff pricing for diff market. Search PPP, make it based on PPP or GDP per capita

Dont give up folks. Hope this helps.
