Google is indexing your social posts, now you can finally track it for free

:partyparrot:You Should Know

Google announced this official on July 29

Search Console now tracks how your Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube posts perform on Google Search, Discover, and Google News. So, platform properties are now globally available to everyone

We knew social content influences search behavior but we never had data on (unless you have budget for those fancy tools). Now it’s free and accessible.

You can check which queries are sending traffic to your social posts, spot content that is suddenly trending in the last 24 hours, and figure out which older videos are getting moemntum

In my experience, most impportant for clients is using the query data from social posts to inform blog and GBP content. If people are finding an Instagram reel through a specific search query, that query deserves a proper page too.

The one thing i found most interesting is the caption and title optimisation angle. Search console annotations let you track whether rewriting a YouTube title or TikTok caption actually moved your search performance. That's a feedback loop we never had before and going to help us a lot.

If you haven't set this up yet, go to Search Console and add your platform properties.

Im curious if anyone has already seen meaningful query data coming through from their social content.
