I wanted to create a chat box for a game, but for some reason i cannot make the child nodes , for lack of a better term, "stretch" properly.
Message scene is supposed to represent a single message in chat, consisting of message background, profile picture, and a message. It all works properly in its scene. I can add text to the label, i can remove it, the background for message grows to right size based on the text send (picture 1 and 2 (message background is that dark green). I have a chat window scene for displaying most recent messages and being able to scroll through them. main view scene add pretty much nothing, only a panel to see if the right size is displayed + label. (pictures 3 and 4)
It breaks when i use script to generate messages through code:

But for whatever reason i see pic5, where it does not stretch properly.
I am fairly certain this is certain label is just not updating its size to the text it is getting, because i made it print message\_text (aka label) size, and it kept comming out as (1, 64) or (1, 179).

Does anyone know how to force message to turn into the right size?
Also is there an easy way to make the elements transparent?

Problem with label control node not filling out container
