What are tampons that are circular called vs ones that are more “butterfly” shaped called?

I have noticed that most tampons (with applicators, in the US) “bloom” into a more flat butterfly shape, and ALWAYS leaked. The only ones that actually are secure are the circular, non applicator types. The only brand I know of that has that circular shape in the US is the OB brand. Are there tampons in the US with an applicator that have that same shape? or even other brands that dont have an applicator that are cheaper in the US with that same circular shape? What is the terminology? I use to live abroad and tampons were so much cheaper (a pipe dream in the US I know) and all that circular shale with no applicator. Its SO frustrating having to go to multiple stores to find the OB tampons and pay more than 10 dollars here when abroad I could walk into a gas station and pay 4 dollars for the same product. The tampons in the US are SO bad.
