Hello, for context, I'll write that I work in a company where a person who absolutely can't do it got into the position of my direct supervisor... He can't solve disputes between colleagues, he can't solve absolutely anything from assigning tasks to writing shifts and he deals with them based on sympathy, there probably wouldn't be anything wrong with that, but:
I've been working here for 3 years and I really like the job, even though it's for a very (below) average salary. I'm there mainly because of the people, because both the clients and most of the colleagues are absolutely golden and I feel like a "wanted team member" here the most in my life... In general, I've always had trouble establishing relationships with others, but here it's just different... That's the reason why I like the job here and why I don't want to leave, but the circumstances of my superiors are forcing me to leave.
I got my first contract for 2 years and during that time it happened several times that there was some problem that the superior had to solve, whether it was a technical problem or some minor conflict at work. Every time I went to my boss with this, she told me that I should solve it myself and that she didn't care... So we mostly solved any problems with colleagues who also saw the incompetence of my superior... However, this April my nerves were already fraying and I told her everything I thought, I presented everything completely assertively and matter-of-factly. After which she invited me over and told me that she was satisfied with my work and had nothing to criticize, but she simply wouldn't extend my fixed-term contract because she felt that I didn't treat her with enough respect... When I asked her how she came to that conclusion, she told me that I greet her with "bye" or "hello" in the morning and that it wasn't respectful enough. I objected, saying that we were related and that these were completely normal greetings between 2 people who are related to each other. She further argued that the company we work with complains about me, that there are constant criticisms of me, that I am arrogant and mean... After the interview, I asked my colleagues from the other company what I did to them and they literally told me that they don't even know who I am... :D So I think it's nonsense that she made up to get something out of me...
These arguments made me feel that she simply doesn't like me and wants to get rid of me, but because most of my colleagues stood up for me and insisted that they wanted me here, she eventually extended my contract for a year... yes, so I still have it for a fixed term... She even discussed this matter with the company's management, who also argued that they couldn't fire me because we were understaffed.
Bullying?
I don't know how hard it is to prove workplace bullying and if anyone has any experience, please share it with me because during the time I've been working there, the following things have happened to me:
- She didn't let me go to my uncle's funeral because she wouldn't be able to find a replacement for me within a week... Yes, legally she doesn't have to because she's not a direct relative, but she let another colleague go literally 4 hours before work so she could just say goodbye to her dying grandfather... she also couldn't find a replacement for this colleague and we at work had to handle it... I see a double standard in this... why could she and I not?
- She literally yelled at me like I was a little brat for using words like "downplay", "oxymoron", etc. in colloquial speech... That she supposedly doesn't understand those words and why do I dare to speak a foreign language to her... WTF dude, it's not my fault that you don't have a good vocabulary...
- She wants me to do work that is not within my competence, because it is supposedly easier for me to do the work myself than to assign it to someone (who is actually at work) who is really supposed to do it... WTF
- The manager of our branch allowed me to wear clothes other than company clothes, so during the steamy days I wore clothes with breathable material, after which my superior yelled at me, saying what am I doing, that I can't wear this, etc.... when I protested that the branch manager allowed me to do it (the branch manager is above the boss in the company hierarchy), I was told that I only had to listen to her... Just so btw, she herself wasn't wearing company clothes and other colleagues also wear their own t-shirts, but she doesn't mind, it's just me who seems to mind...
- She literally yelled at me several times in front of a client, who then told me that something had slipped her mind and that if I were in her position, he would have quit if his boss had treated him like that... When I quoted this to my superiors, she told me that I should say in front of the client that she was behaving correctly and I was the bad one and that I deserved such behavior...
She assigns me more work than other colleagues because they have a lot of services and are tired... WTF, I literally have the same services as others, I'm not tired? Probably not...
The highlight of all this is that I learned that the cleaning lady's contract was extended indefinitely, because her only job, as I managed to observe, is apparently to eavesdrop on the conversations of her colleagues, then exaggerate the whole thing and then interpret it for the bosses... This cleaning lady literally does nothing... I've only seen her mop a few times and most of the time I see her sitting and yawning, or staring at her mobile phone.
