Anxiety meds, what is the best thing to start on?

*I was prescribed Effexor for a first time anxiety medication, I was very happy to finally get some help to function normally but obviously wanted to research what I was going to be taking. Long story short I’m too anxious to even take them after reading horror stories online. I reached out to my doctor to see if there was something else that may be better because I’m scared of the withdrawals. (Seeing that you can have withdrawals if you miss the medication by an hour) still waiting for a response back from her. Please give me all the good advice you can. What your experience is with this medication or what medications you have had the best outcome with*.
