Reading slump
Has anyone actually recovered from a reading slump that lasted for years?
I honestly miss the person I used to be. Growing up, reading was my favorite thing in the world. I could spend an entire day with magazines and novels, and finishing 1,500+ page novels a day was a very normal thing to me. I got so immersed in stories that I completely lost track of time.
Now, I can barely get through a single page before my mind starts wandering. It's not that I don't want to read because I really do. I just can't seem to stay engaged anymore.
The only thing that's brought me even a little closer to reading again has been visual novels. They're more interactive, so they keep my attention much better. But I don't want to only read visual novels. I really miss picking up a regular book (especially physical books) and getting completely absorbed in it.
If you've gone through something similar and actually got your love for reading back, what helped? I'm not really looking for the usual advice like "read shorter books," "read 10 pages a day," or "find a genre you like." I've heard all of that already, and it didn't work for me, and also, it's so obvious like c'mon...
I'd love to hear from people who were in the same situation and found something that genuinely made a difference.
