Looking for advice and information on becoming a sperm donor

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

Hi everyone.

I've been thinking about becoming a sperm donor for quite some time now. The main reason is that I don't think I'll ever be able to start a family of my own with a partner. I have certain personality traits that I feel make that less likely, and I've always been quite a solitary person. So, if I'm accepted as a donor, I'd at least be able to help other people grow their families.

I've done some research into the donation process, but there are still a few things I haven't been able to find clear answers to. I'd really appreciate any additional information or advice you think would be useful.

Besides genetic disorders, are there other factors that could disqualify someone from becoming a donor, such as height? I'm about 5'9" (175 cm).

Do I need to know the complete medical history of many members of my family, or is information about close relatives enough?

How often are donations usually made, and over what period of time?

During the psychological assessment, what kind of questions are typically asked? When they ask why I decided to become a donor, is the reason I described above generally sufficient, or are they looking for something more specific?

If I change my mind in the future, is it possible to ask for my stored samples to be destroyed so they can no longer be used? If so, how can I be confident that the sperm bank will actually comply with that request?

I understand that some programs allow donors to remain anonymous, while others allow donor-conceived children to access identifying information about the donor once they turn 18. In your opinion, which option do you think is the better choice?

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this. I'd be grateful for any advice or information you're willing to share.
