While most people are talking about the new Gundam series involving the fight against aliens—where naturally, the mobile suits will have bizarre and unique designs—as a fan of unusually shaped mechas, I'd like to introduce you to the Mobile Suits from both Vagan and Zanscare. Let's see just how strange and cool these suits actually are. Unfortunately, their fate has been sealed, and they have been completely forgotten in Bandai's production runs to this day.

(Since I can't add captions to all the images and it would be too long, I'll write a description for each image instead.)

1) Here are the Vagan Mobile Suits. Their biggest gimmick is that instead of using a classic Zeon mono-eye, they have this horizontal sensor strip that flashes blue with a 'beep' sound. On top of that, they're designed to look like aliens, dragons, and reptiles—you can see it from their skirt-like wings and tail weapons. Also, if you look closely, their hands actually have two symmetrical thumbs on both sides, which can shoot beams and turn into beam sabers. It’s such a cool signature feature.

2) And here are the Zanscare Empire Mobile Suits. I gotta admit, I don't know too much about their lore since I haven't watched Victory Gundam yet, but what I remember clearly is that they don't use the Zeon mono-eye either. They have these insect/arthropod-like eyes and a much heavier military vibe. Their special gimmick is the Beam Rotor, which lets them fly in the atmosphere and acts as a shield. Some models can even attach these rotors to become helicopters.

3) Of course, Mobile Suits from both sides also have transformation mechanisms, especially the Vagan designs which feature bizarre dragon-like transformations (although some of their appearances might seem a bit strange to some).

4) The ultimate in bizarre design: on one side is the Danazine, which has a clearly shaped kaiju/dinosaur silhouette, and on the other is the Gedlav operating inside a giant bicycle wheel. It might seem strange and out of place for a Gundam series, but there's no denying they are truly unique.

5) Even amphibious mobile suits share a tragic fate. Both Wrozzo and Galguyu can transform into underwater modes, but their shared sad destiny is that neither of them has been officially released as a model kit to this day.

6) I dare say these two are the last ones Bandai ever glanced at. We got the RE/100 Shokew (and that's all Zanscare got, plus it was P-Bandai...), and the HG Legilis only gets a rare reprint once in a blue moon. After these two, it's been complete silence.

As for this last picture, I'm still out here waiting for Bandai to finally give us HG kits for all three of them. 🥲

This is my first post here, so I apologize if any of the information is a bit incomplete.

It’s honestly tragic how both Vagan (AGE) and Zanscare (Victory) MS shared the exact same fate of being completely abandoned by Bandai.
