Is it normal to sexualize a woman wearing a topless swimsuit and a thong at the beach?

I was at the beach with my girlfriend. She was sunbathing near the shoreline while I was swimming, and I overheard two guys talking about her body (her naked boobs, and butt, etc.). They weren't just saying she was attractive, they were making pretty explicit sexual comments and imagining hard sexual scenarios.

I get that people notice attractive bodies at the beach. I do too. But for me it's usually just a glance, not staring or making crude remarks.

Is this kind of behavior actually common among men? Do most guys think like this but just don't say it out loud, or is this more of a minority? BTW I am m genuinely curious about other people's perspectives. And sorry of this is not the correct subreddit, please advice the corrent one in case
