Eerie movies but not intended

There’s many movies that I watch that have this eerie trapped vibe in a simulator, the substance for example was sucha like suffocating film to watch it was like this girl trapped in a cycle that never was gonna end but it wasn’t just that it was also the lack of background actors and the repeating settings it made it eerie what is that style of movie called?

American psycho as well it had that no new characters and it feels as if the characters can’t exit like a Truman show situation for a character in a movie I’ve watched many movies that give off the characters are in a simulator and we’re watching them being punished through cameras and the settings are always repeated I noticed it mostly with the substance with demi Moore and Margaret qualley and American psycho with Christian bale

They’re almost uncomfortable not for the plot but how the cameras are set up what’s this like thing called and what movies have that vibe that you’ve realised?
