To the point, honest review for Spider-Man : Brand new day (Minor spoilers)
Let me first simplify the whole thing for you.
If you're a Spider-Man fan—and by "fan," I mean someone who gets excited by the nature of the character, the swinging scenes, the goofiness, etc.—you're in for a treat. This was the case with me, and I think it is for quite a lot of people. I loved it.
But if that's not the case for you, let me give you the pros and cons.
Things that work-
The scenes that are expected to hit do not miss. The fights with the ninjas and Hulk are done very well.
The cinematography is fantastic and made for the big screen. The shot of Peter watching the sunset near the end, the swinging scenes, and many other moments look beautiful.
The music is good. The songs included are an even better choice.
If you're a Punisher fan, his scenes won't disappoint you because the nature of his character isn't altered. In fact, you'll probably be happy for him by the end. Destin Daniel Cretton has done an incredible job of keeping the movie PG-13 while including his character.
The whole cast nailed their performances. It's almost flawless. Tom Holland is especially good.
Things that could disappoint you-
The fight with Hulk, though very good, isn't long enough. Finally getting a proper Hulk scene (and the thunder clap) after such a long time is already something to be grateful for, but I think it could have been a few minutes longer.
The overall mystery behind the antagonist, although emotional and dangerous, could be a bit underwhelming for some people, especially if they were expecting something bigger.
If you're expecting a big role from Scorpion, you could be a bit disappointed.
Overall, I think it's a proper Spider-Man/Peter Parker movie.
My rating: 9/10.
