IQS550 on Raspberry Pi detected as touchscreen — looking for trackpad firmware/configuration

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to use an Azoteq IQS550 touch controller as a normal laptop-style trackpad on a Raspberry Pi, but I’m stuck.

The hardware is detected correctly by Linux:

Device: iqs550

Kernel: /dev/input/event4

Driver: iqs5xx

I2C address: 0x74

Current firmware:

40.15.2.1:0.3

The Raspberry Pi is using:

dtoverlay=iqs550,reset=17

The problem is that Linux sees it only as a touchscreen:

Capabilities: touch

and not as a trackpad/pointer device. Libinput shows no pointer capabilities, no gestures, no tap-to-click, etc.

I found the Azoteq documentation about updating IQS550 firmware through:

/sys/bus/i2c/devices/1-0074/fw_file

but I cannot find the correct firmware image anywhere.

Does anyone know where to get the IQS550 trackpad firmware, or which firmware/configuration is needed to make the IQS550 behave like a laptop touchpad?

I’m especially looking for:

  • IQS550 trackpad/pointer firmware
  • configuration tools/files
  • examples of using IQS550 with Linux as a touchpad

Any help would be appreciated. I can provide more logs, firmware info, or hardware photos if needed.

Thanks!
