Is it common to still need prism after surgery?

I’m 4 weeks post op from my surgery and my doctor said I needed prism to correct my slight deviation. I have esotropia. My doctor said that because I have high myopia (-4.25 both eyes) with astigmatism that my weak eye would turn when I wear glasses. My prescription increases after surgery. I don’t have double vision before and after surgery.

Before surgery, I have esotropia and was wearing single vision lenses for the longest time. I wasn’t qualified for prism because it was too high. Right now, I am qualified and they needed to put 6 prism diopters both lens.

Has anyone had this happen?

Mostly I read here either they can go back to wearing their old prescription or get a new one without prism.
