Those who chose the safer/peaceful career option, how did it work out for you?

General

Currently in a bit of a dilemma regarding my career and long-term aspirations. I'm a guy, 28, single, working in tech as a software engineer, 3YOE, currently at a big European MNC. It's peaceful (just complete your work and panggang kind), manager is quite hands off, doesn't micromanage, and teammates are nice people and always willing to help. I have plenty of time to myself, and I usually run + gym + play sports + draw + game in my free time. Paid quite decently also, not considered high for tech, but I feel like its enough for now, as still single and still living with parents (classic).

Life right now, I would say is pretty good ah, and quite contented with where I am now.

However, recently I've heard of many friends and colleagues hopping jobs, going to other companies either for higher pay, or they just don't really like what they're working on, or just wanting to experience a different environment/culture, and it got me thinking: People always say "Aiya late 20s early 30s just go for higher pay, just chiong and tahan (if the company culture rabak), then chill at big tech or somewhere comfortable", especially in tech and maybe finance(?). But this got me wondering if there are people out there who actually chose the more peaceful option in their career despite still being young, and whether they regretted it.

Some context about the work I do: I'm working on building agentic solutions as part of my job, so it's very in line with what's hot right now, eg. AI and agents and stuff, but the main issue is that I don't deal with "traditional" software engineering, like frontend or backend or even infra, and this I feel, somewhat affects my marketability as a software engineer. I understand that software engineering is really about solving problems, and no matter what, you could argue that the intrinsic problem solving skills will always help in one's career. But realistically (again I'm still very much junior, so perhaps more experienced engineers could chip in), I think I'm at a disadvantage when it comes to hiring a more traditional fullstack/frontend/backend engineer.

Also, its worth noting that where I'm at currently, there are indeed opportunities like stepping up to take charge of projects or perhaps pivoting to another team that handles more "traditional" engineering-focused work instead of building AI agents.

So the question I've been asking myself is, should I try to look for opportunities elsewhere, where I might get to work with different products and tech stacks (more "traditional" software engineering perhaps), where the pay might be higher, but I might lose the current comfortable and peaceful life that I have? Or stay on, prioritize living my life with the free time I have (I actually have a bucket list of things to do around the world LOL), but risk lesser (?) career growth?
