Had my first chemo session today 🎉
It’s been a hectic day running around town and getting to my appointments on time but I’ve officially got my PICC line in and had most of my first day of chemo 🎉
I say “most” because after the initial drug and then the doxorubicin I was having some heart palpitations and a heavy feeling on my chest— the doctors said it wasn’t anything to worry about but we did decide to postpone the last drug for another day, when I’ll have more supervision & my regular care team (I was the last one in the ward and it was after hours)
I’ve heard doxorubicin is the “scary” one so I’m proud of myself for getting through it! Though as of right now (~4 hours post chemo) I haven’t had any side effects of note, other than the weird chest feeling earlier. Overall feeling pretty good (though that might be the prednisone talking) but being the kind of guy I am I’m mentally preparing myself for the other shoe to drop lol. I’ll prepare for the worst, and hope for the best.
Anyway— I’ve got the first session out of the way and will be going in the next five days for ~2 hour periods. It’s gonna be a busy week so I’ll see how I go! Shout out to my lovely lovely doctors and nurses who’ve been looking after me, I’m very happy they’re being over-cautious with me rather than under-cautious.
Hope everyone’s doing well! I’m not sure how often I’ll post here but it’s really nice to find a community of people going through the same or similar thing :) y’all are so kind here as well
