Recommendations for Hawthorne/surrounding area?

I'm staying in the Hawthorne area in the fall, travelling from the UK for a friends wedding.

My bf and I are only staying for a couple of days - looking for recs for food/coffee/things to do, I know Hawthorne street is good for all those things & thrifts etc. but any specifics? and also wondering where else close by we should maybe check out in the surrounding area? Thanks!!
