BlurtFox – On-device voice note - no ads, no sub

App Name: BlurtFox

What it does: BlurtFox keeps everything on your phone. It records directly from the lock screen (Quick Settings tile) and transcribes using Whisper running entirely on-device. After downloading a model once (about 180 MB), it even works in airplane mode.

Key Features:

• Everything stays on-device — no server, no account, no ads, no analytics
• Detects dates and times in your notes and can offer to create a calendar event
• Automatic language detection (supports dozens of languages)
• PIN-protected notes, folders, and a home screen widget
• One-time purchase (US$14.99) — no subscription, full-featured 14-day trial, then 3 free recordings per day

Goal: Launch

Giveaway: 10 promo codes for the full version. Comment or DM and I'll send you one.

Hi everyone! I'm the developer of BlurtFox.

I built it because every voice memo app I tried either uploaded my recordings to a server or locked basic features behind a monthly subscription.

One trade-off of running everything locally is speed. On my Galaxy S24, a one-minute recording typically takes around 25–30 seconds to transcribe, but your recordings never leave your device.

I'd really appreciate any feedback—whether it's transcription quality, UI, bugs, battery usage, or feature ideas. If you've worked with Whisper on Android, I'd also love to hear about your experience.
