How can I manage jealousy regarding my partner's modeling career? [20M] and [19F]
My partner 'F19' and I 'M20' have been together in a long distance relationship for two and a half years. We have a very loving relationship and care a lot for each other even though we have been long distance from the beginning. From the start of our relationship, we have had very strong boundaries that we follow for each other. If something goes wrong, we do our best to share and talk it out.The reason I am asking for advice today is that I feel extremely jealous whenever I hear about a guy in any conversation. I know that she is not leaving, she won't cheat, and she does not do anything that would make me question her loyalty when she is around people. I understand that my jealousy comes from a protective instinct. She is currently a model, or in the progress of being known as one by others. The thought of her posing and men taking pictures makes me feel insecure. I often compare myself to them, thinking that if I could take good pictures, maybe she would not need to hire professionals. I know that in a professional setting, this is just a job and I want to overcome this jealousy. When she was 17 and starting out, a makeup artist asked her after a shoot if she wanted to do an explicit session for the cameramen to keep for themselves. I wanted to file a complaint against the agency for demanding such things from a minor, but she requested me not to because if her parents found out, they wouldn't let her do this even as a hobby. I backed off, but the memory stayed with me. I know part of my jealousy is due to that incident, but I still feel uncomfortable with the thought of other men taking pictures of her.I am looking for advice on coping strategies, mindset shifts, or communication techniques to help me manage and reduce these jealous feelings every time she goes to a shoot.
