Learning to Assess Claims

I’ve found myself in a position where the Senior Surveyor on my project has left, and I’ve stepped up into the role.

Whilst I’m confident managing the general project surveying responsibilities and downstream commercial management, the project has unfortunately suffered from significant operational mismanagement. As a result, we are now dealing with multiple subcontractor delay claims, loss and expense/prolongation claims, whilst also facing LAD exposure from the client.

I’m not looking to shy away from the challenge if anything, it’s a great opportunity to develop but it’s certainly been a baptism of fire into the Senior Surveyor role.

I’m keen to properly understand the principles behind delay and EOT claims: how they should be assessed, what makes a robust submission, how to challenge subcontractor claims, and how to build a strong upstream position with the client.

If anyone can recommend any good resources, guidance notes, courses or practical advice on dealing with delay/EOT claims, it would be greatly appreciated.
