**Yurei Kagera**

Backstory:
Yurei was born to a modest family in rural Japan, completely unaware of sorcery and cursed spirits. His early life consisted of helping his father with his work; plowing fields, milking cows and carrying heavy bags back over long distances were his usual tasks among other things. Despite having to wake up early and coming home late feeling sore every day, Yurei enjoyed himself, caring deeply for his father, mother and older brother. As for his school life, he hung around with a single group of friends for the majority of his classes, not being interested in having a large friend group. His two friends, Taro and Rui, kept him company and helped him stay social. In the small amount of free time he had, he would fool around with the two. They would ding dong ditch houses, spray graffiti on walls and make poor attempts at parkour. One day, after yet another fun night out with his buddies, Yurei returned home, avoiding paying the bus fare by getting off anytime a ticket inspector boarded. He was 2 days away from his 15th birthday, and couldn't contain his excitement at the gifts he would receive from his parents. When his stop finally arrived, Yurei got off and started walking through the fields to reach his farm. It smelled bad like usual, cow poop, different fertilizers and... blood?.. He sniffed the air hard, smelling it more and more as he got closer to his house, his palms starting to sweat from anxiety. When he reached his doors, they were creaked open, a pool of blood seeping from underneath. His eyes widened, his breath quickened, and his mind immediately assumed the worst. Yurei quietly moved to the opening and peaked through the gap, trying to stay out of sight. Inside, he saw his father's mangled body being eaten by... by nothing? Yurei couldn't see it, but he knew something was there. Next to his father laid his mother, her skull torn open leaving a claw-like mark on what remained. Her eye was still visible on the floor, pointed directly at Yurei. In shock, the young boy stumbled back, falling and accidentally kicking the door open,  causing whatever was inside to notice him. The immense amount of negative emotions flooding his mind; fear, shock, despair, anxiety, anger. All of them served to awaken his cursed technique, granting him the ability to see cursed spirits. What appeared in front of him was inhuman. Its face was eerily human, twisted sideways with a creepy smile. Its body was fat, its arms and legs having uneven proportions to its torso. It was terrifying to the young boy. The spirit stumbled toward a frightened Yurei, moving horrifyingly quick for its size. He attempted to escape, turning over and using whatever strength he had left in his legs to run away. However, it was futile; the cursed spirit, its mouth gargling with disgusting noises, caught up to him in seconds and slashed at him, leaving a gashing wound on the boy's back. Just as it was about to finish him, something hit it in the head from behind. \*OVER HERE YOU FREAK!\* a voice yelled out. Yurei realized it was his older brother. It seemed he could also see the thing clearly. The cursed spirit, distracted and angered, turned around and sprinted toward Yurei's brother. \*AKERU!\* he yelled out in panic, trying to warn him to run away. However, Akeru knew he was not fast enough to outrun it, throwing whatever he could find on the ground to distract it long enough for Yurei to escape. Yurei, still on the ground and in pain, saw the creature close in on his brother and, out of pure desperation, activated his cursed technique, forcing the monster to take two full steps back. Even so, what was a short moment of hope quickly turned grim as the cursed spirit simply continued charging forward after, catching up to Akeru and digging its claw in his neck, lifting him up in the air. Just as he was about to die, Akeru gave his younger brother a final defiant look, urging him to run away and survive. Yurei, not being able to bear seeing his brother die in front of him, got up and ran in the opposite direction. The spirit, now bloodlusted, crushed Akeru's throat and dropped him on the ground, turning around to chase after the fleeing Yurei. It would start catching up, its body moving at a pace way beyond what the little boy's legs could handle. It got closer and closer, nearly reaching him until... \*SLASH\*... \*Vile creature.\* A calm voice spoke out, cutting the cursed spirit's legs off. Both it and Yurei looked toward them, seeing a seemingly regular human, they were dressed in a weird uniform and carried a sword. \*I'm sorry I didn't get here earlier, I heard your screams.\* They spoke in a soothing tone. The monster, gargling in pain, regenerated its legs and charged at the figure, attempting to slash at them with its claws. \*You're too slow for a grade 3.\* They spoke before cleanly bisecting the spirit down the middle. Then, they sheathed their sword and squatted down in front of a crying Yurei. \*You could see it, couldn't you kiddo. Listen, you can come with me if you want help.\* They could sense Yurei's technique had awakened from the intense negative emotions he experienced. A tired, battered and despaired Yurei nodded, deciding to trust the figure now that everyone else had died.

Personality:
Yurei is calm and collected, preferring to keep to himself most of the time. He never cracks jokes, and will drift off into space if given the chance. He speaks in a monotone voice, rarely raising his words. However, he has an obsessive need to prevent loss. After losing his family, Yurei became incapable of letting people die if he believes he could stop it. This seems heroic at first, but it quickly becomes self-destructive when he's willing to put himself in-between a mass of curses and a few civilians to protect them. On top of this, he's never properly processed his family's death, causing him to lose his spark for human interaction and stop expressing himself at all.

Cursed Technique:
Antithesis

A simple yet unique cursed technique that lets Yurei force someone to perform the opposite of an action they took in the last 10 seconds by looking directly at them. For example, if an enemy is throwing a punch, their arm will contract back to its windup position. If an opponent takes a step forward, they will instantly take a step backward. If they swing their sword, it'll return to its original spot.

The targeted action can only be reversed up to 1 second, meaning the user cannot, for example, make someone run backward for a full minute, instead only making them take a step or two. On top of this, Kagera must have seen the action take place in order to invert it, from which they can do so in the moment or the next 10 seconds. Lastly, Antithesis can only reverse physical movements performed by the target. The technique cannot directly reverse the opening of domain expansions or CT activations.

Binding Vow:

"By surrendering my ability to use Antithesis for the next five minutes, I may temporarily remove the restriction limiting Antithesis to physical actions."

Jujutsu High Status:
Currently, Yurei is only a grade 4 sorcerer, having barely entered jujutsu high and boasting an impressive 0 actual fight record, his only "battle" being with the cursed spirit that attacked and almost killed him.
