Am I irrationally angry or justified
Back to school meetings make me ridiculously angry. Nothing pisses me off more than sitting through hours and hours of meetings where they read to us from the slide then email the slides out later. I can read a hell of a lot faster than them reading out loud. I understand that 10% of us don’t read their emails but the other 90% don’t deserve to be punished for it. Not to mention they’ve used these same slides for several years and the information does not change. I have shit to do. I have a classroom to set up and materials to prep. My to-do list is a mile long. I do not want to sit through another hour long campus update meeting.
My husband says I’m being irrational and that these types of meetings happen in the corporate world too. I reply with “this is literally the worst part of the job for me, let me vent” I’d rather sit in 10 IEP meetings than 1 blood borne pathogen slideshow again. At least the IEP meetings feel productive. I’m half tempted to anonymously email our admin a link to Principal Lamb’s videos or take my laptop to the meeting and work. I almost hope they say something so I can sarcastically remind them I can read and will read it when they email it out immediately after the meeting.
And oh god, I guarantee they’ll be getting out post it’s and anchor chart paper. I am a social introvert and Hate having to make small talk or work in groups with teachers I barely know and never see because they’re on the other side of our campus. FML. I’m going to go “to the bathroom” and hide in my classroom.
One meeting last year was such a stupid waste of time and money from bussing people around the district that I almost quit. Am I completely irrational or do others feel this way as well? Do I need to just suck it up or should I just ignore the meetings and work on my laptop?
