\[In the attached photos, I HAVE NOT used the laneige tints. These are tints from clio and tirtir\]

So I have seen a lot of recent chatter and mixed reactions online about the new Laneige Juice Pop Box Lip Tint. One creator made a reel (which looks to be deleted now) showing how spraying water on their lips after applying the tint caused it to form a milky white layer.

I definitely understand that seeing a product turn milky on your lips can look weird at first glance, but isn't this just basic water to oil chemistry?

Laneige has advertise this launch as a water to oil formulation. When water comes into contact with an oil based layer containing emulsifiers, it naturally emulsifies into a cloudy/milky film. Pretty much like a cleansing oil when you splash water to rinse it off.

— Testing Other K beauty Formulas (Photos Attached)

To check if this was unique to Laneige, I tested two other popular lip products in my collection by spraying water over them:

	•	Left: clio crystal glam tint (09 Bare Peach)

	•	Right: tirtir waterism glow Tint (05 Scotch Shot)

As you can see in the photos, both formulas turned milky white upon contact with water as well.

— A Clarification on Pricing vs science

To be very clear: I am not defending Laneige's price point. (They launched recently in India for approx 14 usd, which is considered to be on the expensive side for Indian market.) Pricing is a completely valid critique, and at high end rates, anyone has every right to decide if a formulation is a dealbreaker for them or not.

However, calling this reaction a defective formula or a product fail feels misleading when it happens with almost all water to oil or oil based tints across different brands. I think that that oil layer is what gives these products their glassy shine and long lasting hydration.

Over here in my local beauty community, people are treating this like a massive product fail, but I wanted to ask here to get a global perspective.

Backlash on the Laneige Juice Pop Tint emulsifying!!
