If you found out during the legal paperwork that the candidate you just hired has a different legal name from the one on their resume. Would that be grounds for disengagement?
I was recently reading on another sub about how people who never get callbacks from hundreds of applications can turn their fortunes around by simply using anglicized names. It got me thinking about the legal and ethical implications.
On one hand, I don’t think it’s fair in any way that people’s accomplishments and skills are completely disregarded based purely on the sound of their names. And this seems to be very well established.
On the other hand, using a name that’s completely unconnected to your real identity sounds very sketchy and borders on integrity. So how are supposed to reconcile these two?
Has anyone faced this situation before and how did you / would you deal with it?
