So, I have a little side story to share. A confession, a slight tragedy, and a lesson in top-tier bad timing—all wrapped in one.

It all started about a month ago. Her, a junior, cute, and completely out of my orbit. Me? I’m a senior, which meant we shared zero classes, zero mutual friends, and had a solid 0% natural chance of ever crossing paths. Combine that with the fact that I am an Introvert Ultra Pro Max, and my chances dropped to negative numbers. I have zero experience talking to girls in these situations, and my courage usually caps out at making eye contact for 0.5 seconds before looking at the floor.

Against all odds, thanks to a classmate, I managed to get her Instagram handle.

Silence!! Two days passed, and no follow back. Panicking that I looked like a silent stalker, I quickly unfollowed her to save face. I tried to DM her, but her privacy settings blocked me—only people she followed back could send messages. The universe was clearly putting up barricades, but I wasn't ready to give up just yet.

Curiosity killed the cat, but in this case, it crushed my soul. After two minutes of detective work, I found the guy's profile. His profile picture? Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker. His bio? Her name, with the exact same angry emoji.

I sat there at my desk, looking at my carefully drafted letter, and suddenly, out of nowhere, actual tears started rolling down my face. I didn't even realize how invested I was until that exact moment. It was a weird mix of heartbreak and sheer absurdity.
