Ketu 4th house people how's your relationship with your mother??

I'm new to astrology and have heard that wherever ketu sits, it detaches. But then I saw this chart of a close friend and he has ketu in the 4th house and has an amazing relationship with his mother, although they had a rough patch once but now they are inseparable.....so that got me confused about how exactly this works??
