My Light
Knees battered,
Hands tired.
My life has been spent begging
For someone you used to be,
Someone you no longer can see.
The peace I laid down
Has been uncovered.
As this new light carries me,
I realize this light does not need
The little you choose to give.
Bits and pieces of pain
Slip out in moments of quiet longing,
In flashes of frustration,
As I realize I am missing someone
Who no longer exists.
The pain I feel
My light will never know.
My light will only know love,
Never fleeting,
Never begging.
Selfless love.
Unconditional.
I may never get what I need from you,
And neither will my light.
But my light has all it will ever need.
With me.
