What should i opt for between an SDE role or an Ai/Ml engineer as a 2nd year student?

Hey everyone! I am not from a good college in India and i am in my 2nd year. My main objective is to get a decent placement here but i am confused between two paths. I am from the Cse(Ai&ml) branch. I am confused between should i Prepare for a SDE role or an Ai engineer role. I also don't want to narrow down my options in early stages. But some people say that SDE roles are slowly getting replaced by Ai where some say that during placement times companies mostly hire freshers for SDE roles only even the top ones. Am also concerned about the market requirements during my placement times which will be in 2028-2029. This problem is literally eating my brain out. Anyone experienced please clear my path

out i would be very grateful to you.
