In order to do higher volume, should I expect to bench lower weights?
So I notice that if I do bench press, I need at least 3 days off of chest and tricep workouts in order to hit the same numbers in my next bench workout. I'm not sure how much of this is just personal or if its a generally accepted thing.
So if I do chest twice a week, it can be hard to maintain those numbers, and if I were to work chest 3 times a week, there's no way im maintaining the same numbers.
This is the case when im in a calorie surplus, getting 150g+ of protein a day. The only limiting factor could be sleep (only ~6hrs on weeknights, catch up on weekends).
But anways, the main question, I've always been hesitant to work chest 3x a week because in the short term I feel like I can't train as hard. But is it pretty standard to just accept that I should just lower my weights, do it 3x a week, and then just test my max after a few months of training?
Is the feeling of being weaker preventing me from getting stronger? Tbh I feel like I need to hit the same weight to prove to myself that im not getting weaker which may be kind of naiive.
Sorry if this is a dumb question that is addressed by just following a program. I am consistent with my workouts and I just follow basic structures, I guess my routine is mostly PPL but kind of fullbody. I don't mind getting into specifics of my program but I'm just looking to casually chat about this question and hear some perspectives.
