What's The Best Higher Tier Farm on 1.0

I found pretty good peninsula land on my save, and I'm looking towards making a good, long-lasting automatic or semi-automatic farm defense. I've already tried the crusher concept where the main killing device is a piston going up and down squashing the bots. That worked up to the 1st level. On the second, there are suicide bomb bots that will ram into your base and destroy your whole mechanism. I'm kinda stuck at doing it, as every high tier farm tutorial is from 4 years+ ago, from which I think there were not explosive bots. I'm really looking toward an automatic defense, as I've always enjoyed making things automated.
